MICK Goff has enjoyed good fortunes at Tinahely and he boosted his strike rate at the course to 40% with a rare victory for his Clondaw Stables in a winners-of-one contest. Nelsons Rock (1/1 fav) followed-up his four-year-old maiden victory at the course in October to win comfortably by eight lengths. In a race confined to novice riders, Kevin Corrigan was aboard the Mount Nelson gelding and they proved much too good for Necarne winner Oscar Bonnie. Having failed to find a new owner following his maiden success, the five-year-old is likely sales bound again.

“We had him in the sales and weren’t getting on well. I can’t understand why as he is a good-looking horse and I love him. He will go back to the sales now and we will see what happens. But if it is a thing that he doesn’t sell, I wouldn’t mind keeping this horse,” said Goff.
