THE catalogue for the Tattersalls Ireland July Store Sale has probably been well perused by potential buyers by now, but if you haven’t seen it you can view it online. The sale will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13th and 14th, and more than 650 lots are set to go under the hammer.

After a successful introduction of the inaugural July Store Sale in 2021, though the horses in the one-day catalogue were actually sold in August, it is a welcome fact that this year’s July Store Sale will take place on its original intended dates.

The sale kicks off each day at 10am. The select Part 1 catalogue features 297 quality stores and wildcards, while 333 stores have been catalogued for Part 2. This sale is the final opportunity to purchase store horses in Tattersalls Ireland this year.

The current strong demand for stores is expected to continue, and last year’s first edition of this sale has already been a bonanza for some of Ireland’s shrewdest point-to-point handlers. They will surely be back in action for more potential stars this week.

Point-to-point handlers who enjoyed profitable pinhooks this year after winning their four-year-old maidens include Colin Motherway. His Encanto Bruno, a son of Mahler, was purchased for €20,000 before selling for £210,000 at the Aintree Sale to John McConnell Racing after winning impressively at Ballynoe in March. Colin Bowe’s Milestone Stables won at Taylorstown with the French-bred I Will Be Baie who was purchased for €43,000 and resold for £150,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale April to Harold Kirk and champion trainer Willie Mullins.

Denis Murphy’s Ballyboy Stables turned €17,000 into £72,000 with Tyrella debut winner Jet Of Dreams, a son of Jet Away, and he was bought at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale by Highflyer Bloodstock and Warren Greatrex Racing. Harley Dunne’s Doyen For Money, a winner first time out at Ballinaboola, sold for £75,000 to Anthony Honeyball after being purchased for €11,000, while Michael Griffin’s Knockacool Stables purchased Catuaba for €7,200 before selling the Jet Away gelding to Highflyer Bloodstock and Charlie Longsdon for £52,000.
