Leo Powell is Editor of The Irish Field since its purchase by the Agricultural Trust in 2003. With an equine family background he was always likely to pursue a career with horses and joined Ballsbridge International Bloodstock Sales (later Tattersalls Ireland) on leaving school, starting in the pedigree department and advancing to the role of Bloodstock Manager. He left the company in 1988 and joined Goffs as National Hunt Manager, later filling roles as Sales Director and Marketing Director. Leo joined The Irish Field having previously written a breeding column for the paper and a racing column for the Irish Farmers Journal. He has served in many roles within the industry, including Naas Racecourse, the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association and many more. He has a myriad of interests that include sports of all kinds (a lifelong Manchester City fan), music, reading, book collecting, cinema, theatre and food.
