This is the 33rd year the event has been staged and only two riders are required to travel as there are a number of Irish-born jockeys already based in Australia. Sean Lynch, who has acted as team manager for 31 years, has stood down from the role.

Andrew Coonan of the Irish Jockeys Association said: “All going well, Donie and Adam will travel to Adelaide on Monday, August 27th and they return to Ireland a week later, on Monday September 3rd.”
