JUST in time for last weekend’s racing, Billy Walton Davison arrived into the world, a first-born for Jack Davison and Jodi O’Connor. He is already proving to be a lucky talisman for his trainer dad. The day after his birth, Davison sent out Stop The Nation to win at the Curragh, his second win there and he has also placed in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at headquarters. On Monday, the stable’s Bucaneer’s Spirit recorded his third career win at Ballinrobe.
The choice of the name Walton honours Billy’s great-grandfather Walt Davison of Killarkin Stud, where Jack trains. Walt bought the farm in the 1950s and was recognised as both a leading veterinary surgeon and a hugely successful breeder. Walt’s son John, also a veterinary surgeon, took over the running of Killarkin, and now Jack is a third generation operating there.
