AN outstanding performance from Irish endurance rider Tom MacGuinness saw him record his first international endurance victory in the CEI2* at Catalunya, Spain, with Horseware Sasha D’Aillais. Competing in the 120kms race at Olot, the Co Louth man led from the start and covered the course at an average speed of 18.5kph.

MacGuinness, who founded Horseware Ireland, now has his sights set on the upcoming World Equestrian Games at Tryon International Equestrian Centre, North Caroline, USA, this September. He has shown particular good form of late, finishing 11th at Tryon’s test event for WEG out of 80 starters and was also third at Biltmore out of 45 starters.
