ALL four Trailblazers’ finals, which had 13 starters in total who rode one test apiece, were staged indoors on Saturday before Jillie Rodgers (C) and Lynn Cassidy (M) and each was won by a score of 70% or more.

The Whelan siblings vied for honours in the mini final where Max, riding Josephine Delahoyde’s nine-year-old black 122cms gelding Duke Of Creggane (72.795), saw off the challenge of his younger sister Robyn on board Franks Choice (69.412).

Topping the scores of both judges, Cadhla Curran comfortably repelled the challenge of two rivals to claim the Under 12s’ championship riding the Connemara gelding Southeast Starlight (72.300), a 15-year-old grey by Carraig Galen Miller.

Six combinations vied for glory in the Junior Preliminary championship where the top two recorded scores in the 70s. The judges were agreed on their winners, Georgia Cadogan and another Connemara, the 11-year-old dun Coosheen Callowfeenish Cashel mare Ashfield Sapphire (73.200), while Darragh Whyte finished reserve on Two Tone Tommy (70.300).

Cadogan and Ashfield Sapphire also contested the three-strong Junior Novice championship but here they had to settle for second (66.371) behind Kate Murphy and the 11-year-old piebald mare, Marlton Oreo (70.161).
