AN across-the-card treble for Paddy Twomey on Sunday meant that the Co Tipperary trainer had won with nine of his last 10 runners.

Arouet (4/6 favourite) started the Sunday treble by winning a Cork maiden hurdle. But his trainer was at Leopardstown where stable companions City Of Memphis (7/4 favourite) and Catalina Delcarpio (100/30) won the Group 3 Mutamakina Stakes and Listed Amethyst Stakes respectively.

City Of Memphis was making it two wins from two this season with a straightforward victory in the Mutamakina Stakes.

California Dreamer pulled them along at the head of the field in the seven-furlong contest, with the Billy Lee-ridden City Of Memphis covering her every move.

Lee then laid down his challenge at the one pole to take it up in a duel with California Dreamer and Snellen, and the 7/4 favourite’s class shone through as she came home one and a half lengths clear of the fast-finishing Signora. Snellen was a neck further adrift in third.

“She’s a very good filly. We haven’t raced her much and I’m hoping we’ll make up for lost time this year,” said Twomey.

“She’s in the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes on Guineas weekend and I think the mile will be no problem.

“She’s a filly that will do very well later in the year, over seven or a mile. I’ll keep her to better tracks.”

Twomey had one further runner on the Leopardstown card, Wickedly Wootton, who finished fourth on her debut in a fillies' maiden.
