THE third Group 1 on the card at Sha Tin on Sunday, the FWD Champions Mile, saw a second win at that level on the day for an Australian-bred, the seven-year-old Southern Legend finally getting his nose in front at the highest echelons of racing.

This was the 12th win for the Corumbene Stud-bred son of Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice ), a $280,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale graduate who won a listed race in Australia and was Group 2 placed before heading to Hong Kong. He has ventured to Singapore too and this year was due to challenge for a third consecutive Kranji Mile victory, before Covid-19 put paid to that plan. He was diverted to Sunday’s race, with a perfect outcome.
