PLACED on his only start in a point-to-point, Constitution Hill is unbeaten in six starts over hurdles, adding this week’s Grade 1 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham to top-level victories in the Supreme Novices Hurdle last year, the Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle, and the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

He is the outstanding performer, among 19 blacktype winners, for Blue Bresil (Smadoun) who stands at the Cashman Family’s Glenview Stud. Bred by Sally Noott, Constitution Hill is from the first crop of Blue Bresil after his move to Yorton Farm Stud. Barry Geraghty bought Constitution Hill with Warren Ewing as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland for €16,500, and sold him to owner Michael Buckley at the Goffs UK Spring Sale in 2021 for £120,000.

Noott sold Queen Of The Stage (King’s Theatre), the dam of Constitution Hill, for £340,000 in an online sale to Jayne McGivern, and she visits Golden Horn (Cape Cross) this year. She won twice over hurdles, and was placed in a listed mares’ hurdle at Sandown. Queen Of The Stage is out of the winning hurdler Supreme Du Casse (Supreme Leader).

The next dam Pede Gale (Strong Gale) bred three winners and was a sibling to six, the best being the Grade 2-winning hurdler My Sunny Glen (Furry Glen).
