THE highlight of Navan’s jump racing calendar, the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase, will this year take place on Sunday, November 27th, and with the benefit of this new sponsorship the race will have a total purse prize of €100,000.

Good news also is that the race will be broadcast live on RTÉ television, in addition to being shown on Racing TV.

Bar One Racing will also take over the bookmaker shop on course, which will involve a significant upgrade to the facility taking place prior to its reopening on Sunday, November 13th.

Founded by chief executive officer Barney O’Hare, Bar One Racing has expanded greatly since its inception as a family-run business, and currently employs more than 350 staff across the organisation’s 53 shops in Ireland.

The Louth-based company is one of Ireland’s leading independent bookmakers and is a huge supporter of Irish racing, with the iconic Troytown Handicap Chase joining a large portfolio of race sponsorships throughout the country.

Bar One Troytown Chase Day is always one of the highlights of early part of the National Hunt season, with over €200,000 in prizemoney on offer on the day. Along with a high-class seven-race card, there will be live music throughout the day, and the full schedule of activities for that Sunday will be announced in the coming weeks.

Early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment as there is limited corporate hospitality available in the Trackside Bar.

Huge fan

Barney O’Hare said: “I have always been a huge fan of the jumps meetings at Navan Racecourse and we are delighted to partner with the team there to sponsor such a historic race.

“As well as the Bar One Racing Troytown Chase, our partnership with Navan Racecourse also includes the on-course betting shop. This will allow Navan Racecourse customers to experience our modern approach to the bookmaker shop experience, which means combining the very best technology with world-class customer service.”

Aidan McGarry, the general manager of Navan Racecourse, added: “We are delighted to have Bar One Racing join us as sponsor of our feature jumps race of the year, and are grateful to Barney O’Hare and his team for their enthusiastic support of Navan Racecourse. Bar One Racing offer a great product and service and we look forward to our customers experiencing that in our racecourse betting shop throughout the year.

Sporting day

“It promises to be another fantastic day of jump racing, and I would heartily recommend our early bird tickets and racing bundle offers, which are available at €15 and €35 respectively. We are really looking forward to welcoming our racegoers for a great sporting and social day out.”
