WOOTTON Bassett will be the highest priced stallion on the Coolmore Stud stallion roster for 2022.
The 13-year-old horse stood his first season at Coolmore this year, having been acquired from France where he made his name at stud, most notably as the sire of champion Almanzor.
His fee for 2021 was €100,000 and he covered 244 mares, making him one of the top 10 busiest stallions in Ireland this year.
Following further success on the track for his progeny, headed by Audarya, and the demand for his stock at the sales, his fee has increased by 50% to €150,000 for 2022.
Of the 22 flat stallions standing under the Coolmore banner next year, just three others have had their fees increased.
Camelot (by Montjeu) has seen his fee jump from €45,000 to €75,000. Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet, dual Grade 1 winner Santa Barbara and star two-year-old Luxembourg boosted his profile in the past 12 months.
Australia (by Galileo), sire of Group 1 winners Broome and Order Of Australia plus leading juvenile Point Lonsdale, has gone from €25,000 to €35,000.
Starspangledbanner goes up from €22,500 to €35,000, recent Cox Plate winner State Of Rest keeping him in the headlines.
St Mark’s Basilica is the only new name on the roster and his fee has been set at €65,000. The five-time Group 1 winner is a son of Siyouni, as is Sottsass who has received a slight drop in his stud fee from €30,000 to €25,000 for his second season.
The biggest reductions have been made to Circus Maximus and Gleneagles, whose covering fees have come down by 37.5% and 40% respectively.
Galileo, Mastercraftsman and Zoffany died this year. Fastnet Rock and The Gurkha are the other names from Coolmore’s 2021 list who do not appear on the 2022 roster.
