BRIAN Hughes’s season has really kicked into gear recently and following a treble at Cartmel on the first day of the month, he landed a four-timer at Perth last Thursday week, all for different trainers.

Unfortunately, he also took a heavy fall at the final flight in the three-mile handicap hurdle with Petite Ganache who looked as if he too would visit the winner’s enclosure. The departure of this Presenting gelding left the way clear for Adam Short to score on Maureen’s Star who is trained for Caoimhe O’Hare by Liam Lennon.
