Quais De Paris looks a potentially exciting novice who should make a winning Irish debut before going on to better things. The five-year-old ran just once in his native France, finishing third in a contest that has produced a host of graded performers. Holding entries in both the Supreme and Ballymore Novices’ Hurdles, the gelding is clearly giving all the right signals.

Eikonix, who was a smart handicapper on the flat for Andrew Balding, catches the eye on his debut for Shark Hanlon. The Paco Boy gelding handles soft ground and given that he won around Epsom, he should have no issues with a tight track such as this.

Mastermind seems to reserve his best form for Naas these days but did finish second on the flat on his only previous visit to this track. The Charles O’Brien-trained nine-year-old again ran well when runner up at the Co Kildare venue earlier this month, a reproduction of which would be more than good enough in this very moderate affair.

Lakomet Of Saints was well supported early prior to disappointing at Limerick on his handicap debut. With the benefit of that experience, it would be no surprise to see a better performance from the locally trained horse.

1.05 Jack De Bromhead Memorial Maiden Hurdle 2m 5f 170yds

Kap D’Attente would be an appropriate winner of this race named in honour of the late Jack De Bromhead. Winner of her only point-to-point start, the mare was subsequently bought by Kenny Alexander and sent to Henry De Bromhead. Although the bare form of her point win is hard to access, connections clearly saw enough to warrant an interest.

Lisnagar Fortune has to concede weight to rivals, but as a bumper winner he is entitled to do just that. The form of the Punchestown race he won back in April is relatively strong, so the Mullins representative should be involved.

Lake Chad won over fences here back in June, having just been touched off at the track on his last visit. After a downturn in fortunes, he returned to something like his best form when second over hurdles at Clonmel earlier this month. Rated 14lbs lower in the latter discipline, the Philip Fenton-trained gelding looks a serious contender in this company.

Ocojohn, who has finished third on both previous runs at this course, can go close once again. The Tom Cooper-trained gelding would arguably have been closer over fences here last time but for a mistake two out when challenging for the lead. He recovered well to keep on for a place and can now race off an identical mark back over hurdles.

Minella Indo would undoubtedly prefer a more galloping track but the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner is still hard to get away from. The Henry De Bromhead-trained 10-year-old returned to the Cotswolds to finish second in last season’s renewal and is a genuine Grade 1 chaser on his day. Although disappointing in the King George at Kempton when faced with a similar tight turning track previously, he faced stronger opposition on that occasion.

Stattler is a worthy favourite as he bids to maintain his unbeaten record over fences. A strong stayer who won the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham, he has the pace to cope with this shorter trip and might be more adaptable to the tight track.

Golf Marin, a 12-race maiden over hurdles, could be just the type to improve now switched to chasing. The Tony Martin-trained seven-year-old often flattered to deceive over flights, travelling well before finding less than expected.

Such horses can often be transformed once faced with a fence, as they tend to stay that bit stronger. He wouldn’t need to improve a great deal in order to be a contender in this class.

Peckham Springs was the highest rated of these horses over hurdles but has taken time to find his feet since being sent chasing. After four starts, he should be ready to play a leading role against largely inferior opponents.

Beating The Odds, very consistent in similar races of late, can gain his reward. The Willie Austin-trained 10-year-old was unfortunate to bump into a well-handicapped horse when second at Thurles on his penultimate outing, then ran a solid race on his latest start when third at Punchestown. The dual hurdles winner can race off a slightly lower chase mark.

Tyre Kicker has to be considered, making his chasing debut in handicap company. Formerly placed in a point-to-point, the winner of a handicap hurdle at Punchestown in May has been running consistently of late.
