LEADING the list of vendors at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale was The Castlebridge Consignment. Their 62 lots sold brought an aggregate of 10,208,500gns, more than four million guineas clear of European Sales Management. The latter draft grossed almost six million guineas for 13 lots sold, averaging 458,538gns compared to The Castlebridge Consignment’s average of 164,653gns.

Four lots from The Castlebridge Consignment brought 700,000gns or more. Three of these were sold on Tuesday. The best of that trio was Snowy Winter who realised 725,000gns (see selected lots). Butterscotch at 700,000gns was another and her price was matched by a mare carrying her first foal by Kingman. This was the listed French winner Birch Grove, a daughter of Galileo and the best of five winners from the Irish Group 2 winner and Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes runner-up Danehurst. Birch Grove now heads to France and Ecurie des Monceaux.
