Sunday's high-profile fixture at Naas is already in significant doubt after officials called an 8am inspection for Friday morning.

The Co Kildare circuit is due to stage a quality card including two Group 3 contests in the Alleged and Gladness Stakes.

However, with the track having been hit by significant rainfall in the last week and more forecast for Thursday evening, course manager Tom Ryan is not optimistic about the meeting going ahead.

He said: "We've had two inches of rain in the last week and the track will not take a lot more moisture.

"We're keen to give it every chance and we'll see where we are in the morning, but the forecast is suggesting we could get upwards of 20 millimetres of rain and that would put us in trouble.

"I think the forecast will need to be wrong for racing to go ahead on Sunday."

Ryan confirmed discussions have already taken place with Horse Racing Ireland about the possibility of rescheduling the meeting for Friday, April 13th.

A blank weekend of racing on the home front maybe on the cards as Navan and Limerick plan to hold course inspections ahead of scheduled weekend fixtures.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has announced that there is to be a 2pm course inspection at Navan on Friday, 6th April ahead of the scheduled fixture on Saturday, due to the threat of rain. The course is currently raceable with the ground described as heavy.

Limerick to hold morning course inspection will also hold 8am course inspection at Limerick on Friday, April 6th ahead of the scheduled fixture on Saturday, due to the threat of overnight rain. The course is currently raceable with the ground described as heavy.

Next Tuesday's Tipperary meeting has already been abandoned and moved to Dundalk.
