Stud farms across Ireland have come together to support 21-year-old Tipperary amateur jockey Kaitlyn Ryan following a serious spinal cord injury sustained on the gallops. A series of high-profile stallion nominations will be offered for charity auction at Goffs prior to the start of day two of the Orby Sale on Tuesday.
All proceeds from the auction will go directly to the family toward funding Kaitlyn’s ongoing care, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery.
The generous contributions from leading Irish breeding operations include live foal nominations to:
1. Bayside Boy (Ballylinch Stud): The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner and a leading first season sire.
2. City Of Troy (Coolmore Stud): The European Champion 2YO and World Champion Racehorse.
3. Mill Stream (Yeomanstown Stud): The Group 1 July Cup-winning sprinter.
4. Zavateri (Tally-Ho Stud): The Group 1-winning juvenile, standing his debut season at Tally-Ho in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of Ballylinch, Yeomanstown, Tally-Ho, and the local Fethard community, M.V. Magnier said: "We were all deeply saddened to hear of Kaitlyn’s injury. She is a talented, hard-working young rider from our local community in Fethard, and the courage she and her family are showing is an inspiration to us all. Racing and breeding are tight-knit industries and when one of our own faces a challenge like this everyone steps up.
"We hope these nominations, alongside the incredible support from our fellow stud farms, generates significant funds for Kaitlyn’s ongoing care."
The charity auction will take place at Goffs at 9.45am ahead of the commencement of day two of the Orby Sale. Breeders and attendees are encouraged to bid generously in support of Kaitlyn.
