THE two-star show in Kronenberg proved to be a good outing for Irish show jumpers with many picking up wins over the course of the show. Kick-starting the Irish haul was Wexford’s Bertram Allen who partnered Gk Casper (Canto x Quantum) to win in Friday’s 1.45m. The nine-year-old, who is owned by Ballywalter Farms, was the fastest of nine double clear rounds when clear in 32.26 seconds. Allen added to his haul when he partnered Fairytale 86 (Verdi x Cantos) into the runner-up spot in the CSIYH* Table A, clear in 64.37. The seven-year-old mare bettered this position in Saturday’s one-star 1.30m when taking the honours in 37.59 seconds.
Allen and his mare Calafrieda (Canto x Lavall 5) slotted into second place in Saturday’s one-star 1.30m with a clear round in 27.79. Riding Christy Jnr, he collected third place in the 1.40m when delivering a foot perfect round in 32.71. Bertram’s younger brother Harry also had a good show, taking third place in Sunday’s 1.30m class with EH Quick Nina, a 10-year-old mare by Quidam’s Rubin.
