AN exciting mini Grand Prix show was held in Kernan Equestrian Centre, Armagh, proudly sponsored by TYR Capital on Sunday, October 2nd. TYR Capital supported the show with beautiful rugs for the winner of each of the competitions throughout the day, and was the sponsor of the £1,500 Grand Prix.

The weather conditions were favourable to display all that show jumping has to offer starting off with a 1m class won by Sheikh Samir Mirdad on Mirdads Mekkkah who finished an impressive four seconds ahead of Amy Smyth with Smyth’s Something Special.

After that was the hotly contested Amateur competition, which was part of the autumn league, where Caitriona Cody raced to the win with Shanroe Socialite, and 11-year-old gelding by Mermus R.

The 1.15m then followed with a super performance by local rider Aedi McCaughey who claimed victory in the two-phase competition with Hariness, winning one of the beautiful TYR-sponsored rugs.

The penultimate 1.25m competition followed with an impressive round by young rider Dylan Ward from Co Down with Black Out to take victory.

The final event of the day was the 1.35m Grand Prix with a win for a rider very much on form, Nicole Kershaw. There wasn’t much that separated Shane O’Reilly’s (BWE Nonstop Caprice) second place time 39.56 and the winning time of 38.26 from Kershaw who rode Keonan Stables’ eight-year-old mare Clovalent (Valent x Cruising). Nick Norris of TYR Capital was at the show throughout the day, and proudly presented the final winning rug to Nicole after the triumphant victory.
