THREE fillies by Sea The Stars were among the top 10 prices at Friday’s session of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, as we went to print.

Breeder Anthony Oppenheimer had to go to 625,000gns at Tattersalls on Friday to buy out his partner in a filly foal by the Gilltown Stud sire.

Oppenheimer owns Hascombe and Valiant Stud and had sent his Group 3 Musidora Stakes runner-up Frankellina to Sea The Stars under a foal share agreement with the Tsui family’s Sunderland Holding.

After Blandford Bloodstock had bid on his behalf, outlasting Patrick Cooper, Oppenheimer revealed: “I have bought out the foal share.”

The family traces to the long-nurtured family of Golden Horn, Rebecca Sharp and more.

German investment

Earlier Gestut Fahrhof spent 350,000gns on a Sea The Stars own-sister to Group 3 winner Soudania, and their half-sister is none other than the Group 1 winning filly Sortilage.

They are among seven winners from the Monsun mare Sahel who is also grandam of three stakes winners.

Last year the consignors Marwell Park sold a Sea The Stars full-sister for 200,000gns to Haras d’Etreham.

That 350,0000gns sale price was matched when BBA Ireland spent the sum on Barton Stud’s first foal of the Kingman mare Incharge. The filly’s dam is a half-sister to champion and now Boardsmill Stud stallion Poet’s Word.
