MANY of the leading French racing stables and owner-breeders are supporting next Saturday evening’s Arqana Arc Sale at Saint-Cloud.

Staged after Saturday’s racing at ParisLongchamp, the boutique sale has a reputation for featuring some high-value horses in training, including a few who have engagements on Arc weekend. Four horses broke the million euro barrier at last year’s sale.

This year’s catalogue still has a few wildcard places available but already it contains a big number of blacktype horses. Among the three-year-olds on offer are Brian Meehan’s recent Chantilly Group 3 winner Oceans Four.

The Zoustar gelding was involved in the four-way photo-finish to the Solario Stakes at Sandown in August, a race which is working out well.

Listed Prix Moonlight Cloud scorer Cacofonix. With a current rating of 110, the Wertheimer-owned Lope De Vega colt also finished third in the Group 3 Prix des Chênes last season.

Group 2 scorer Lazio finished third in Group 1s on his last two starts including the Germany Derby, the Waldemar Hickst-trained colt has a current rating of 111 and took the Group 2 Premio Gran Criterium at Milan last season.

Listed Prix Occitanie winner Miss Of Change is also the winner of the Czech Derby over 12 furlongs this season, the Miroslav Nieslanik-trained filly has a current rating of 103.

The Group 3 Prix de Noailles winner Uther also took third in the Group 3 Prix Greffulhe and was fourth in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris this season. Another owned by the Wertheimers, he has a rating of 112 and is a half-brother to the top-class Sosie.

Blacktype performer Think Giant recently finished third in the Listed Prix de Clairefontaine and is due to run in a Group 1 at Cologne on Sunday. The colt has a rating of 99 and finished runner-up in the Preis des Winterfavoriten.

Listed Prix Caravelle winner Rabbit’s Foot most recently finished third in the Group 2 Prix de Malleret over 12 furlongs at ParisLongchamp and in the Prix Minerve at Deauville. The François Rohaut-trained filly has a current rating of 102 and is a half-sister to the very talented Group 2 winner Zarakem.

In winning the Group 3 Prix de Fontainebleau, Ridari beat the recent Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp scorer Sahlan. A son of Churchill out of Group 1 winner Ridasiyna, the Aga Khan Studs colt has a rating of 112. He also finished third in the Group 3 Prix Messidor against more experienced horses.

Listed Prix de la Californie winner Silius, consigned by the Wertheimers, is a son of Dubawi and has a rating of 106. He was placed in three Group 3 races.

Two-year-olds

Among the juveniles on offer next weekend is recent listed winner Campacite. Winner of three of his four starts this season, the son of Zarak, with a current rating of 110, most recently won by more than three lengths over a mile at Deauville, where he won in very good style.

Older horses

Sibayan, winner of the Grand Prix de Deauville and Prix Maurice de Nieuil (both Group 2) is one of the best older horses in the sale. A winner of his last two starts – including the latest by three lengths at Deauville against experienced horses - the Aga Khan Studs homebred has a rating of 118 and is set to run in the Preis Von Europa tomorrow in Cologne.

Group 3 winner Zabiari has a current rating of 112. The four-year-old Aga Khan Studs homebred has won three times this season. A son of Wootton Bassett, he also took the Prix des Chênes at two.

Marhaba Ya Sanafi is a rare classic winner for sale. He won the Poule d’Essai des Poulains in 2023 and has been a model of consistency in recent seasons. Trained by Andreas Schutz, he won the Group 3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil last season and is currently rated 108.

Wildcards

A winner on her latest start in the Listed Prix Joubert at ParisLongchamp at the beginning of September, Zakharova will be offered as Lot 32. With a rating of 98, the François Belmont-trained filly was also placed in two other listed races. A three-year-old daughter of Zelzal, she is out of the listed winner Diva Cattiva.

Third in Group 3 company recently, the blacktype performer Relaxx is another wildcard entry. group-placed at two, the Carlos and Yann Lerner-trained filly took the Listed Prix de Bagatelle this season before being placed in three Group 3 races.

The three-year-old daughter of City Light is rated 104.

Dorado is a two-year-old son of Romanised with a rating of 95 and he is a half-brother to group winner Outburst.

A three-time winner over around seven furlongs, Stolen Kiss will be offered as Lot 13. The three-year-old son of Chachnak has a rating of 104 and is a grandson of Prix de l’Opéra winner Satwa Queen, from the family of Nations Pride and Lucky Vega.

Third in the Group 3 Prix Gladiateur recently over a marathon trip, finishing behind the top-class Douoble Major and Bet Et Bien, the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained Coetzee might be of interest to Irish and British buyers. The four-year-old by Frankel has a rating of 98.

Finally, Qunieplus will go under the hammer as Lot 31. A two-time winner this season, the Henri-François Devin-trained colt also finished third in a listed race and fourth in Group 3 company.

The three-year-old son of Telecaster has a rating of 102, and is out of a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Terre A Terre.
