Robbie McNamara made a dream start to his fledgling training career when his first ever runner won at Cork on Friday evening. He went on to saddle a second winner on the same card.

Chadic was sent off at odds of 12/1 in the Mallow Maiden Hurdle and duly delivered with a two-length verdict under Conor Brassil. Chadic is owned by Dr Ronan Lambe, with whom McNamara enjoyed great success during his riding days.

Ex-pointer Rathcannon (11/4 favourite) completed the trainer's double when winning the closing bumper under amateur rider Finny Maguire.

McNamara's riding career was brought to a premature end when he suffered severe spinal injuries from a fall at Wexford in April 2015.

Having obtained his training licence in May, the Limerick native this summer intends to saddle flat and National Hunt horses from his base in Co Kildare.
