Steve Parkin of Clipper Logistics has always been a keen supporter of Irish Champions Festival, the brainchild of his racing manager, Ballyhane Stud boss Joe Foley and he bagged a second winner of the weekend when the homebred Fallen Angel, trained by Karl Burke, stayed on really strongly to hold off the Willie McCreery-trained Vespertilio in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

The front two pulled well clear of the remainder of the field and for a moment, it looked as if Vespertilio would overhaul Fallen Angel but the Too Darn Hot filly responded splendidly to deliver by a snug length and a quarter.

Winning rider, Danny Tudhope was very impressed and is dreaming of Guineas glory in 2024.

“I got inside the three pole she was running away with me to be honest,” Tudhope revealed. “She’s loads left in the tank. I saw Billy (Lee) coming on the outside so I kicked on then and she finished very strong.

“She’s a lovely big filly, really honest. We said all along she’ll probably be better when she steps up to a mile.”

The winning owner also bred this filly and he was overjoyed with the success. He said: "We lost her mother to colic when she was foal. That is the last foal out of her mother and she is the spitting image of her mother. Emotional is an understatement - it’s fantastic.

My daughter names all the horses, and after the death of the dam, Fallen Angel is the name we gave her. Now we’ve bred a Group 1 winner, a Moyglare winner, it's unbelievable."
