EQUINE therapist John Warwick has died. Aged 78, he passed away in Scotland where he was being treated for cancer.
Warwick built a reputation as a ‘healer’ over 25 years based in Ireland. Specialising in tendon injuries, he treated multiple Group 1 winner Snow Fairy in 2012. Although he was not a veterinary surgeon his services were called upon by a number of leading trainers.
However that all ended in 2021 when his fortnightly clinic at Monasterevin was raided by Department of Agriculture officials. They found unauthorised veterinary medicines in his possession and he was later charged in relation to that though the case never reached court.
Warwick told The Irish Field he was disgusted by rumours he was “doping” horses and insisted he only ever treated very lame horses and used a non-invasive laser therapy he had developed himself. The medicines seized by the Department were bound for a client in the Middle East, he said, and should not have been in his car when he drove to Ireland.
