Hopes of an Irish winner at the Breeders' Cup have been dealt a blow with news breaking at 5pm on Friday that Precise has been withdrawn from the Juvenile Fillies' Turf due to an infection.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly was hot favourite for the Friday night race, following impressive wins in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and the Fillies' Mile.

However, O'Brien told media on Friday morning that the filly was coughing which prompted a blood test to be taken and this confirmed that she had an infection.

Precise's absence means that the new favourite for the Juvenile Fillies Turf is the Todd Pletcher-trained Time To Dream. There are still two Irish-trained runners in the race - Queen Of Hawaii for Joseph O'Brien and Balantina for Donnacha O'Brien.

Aidan O'Brien still has the favourite for the Juvenile Turf Sprint in True Love and the favourite for the Juvenile Turf in Gstaad.

There was further bad news for the Irish team at Del Mar with the news that Arizona Blaze has been scratched from Saturday's Turf Sprint. Trained by Adrian Murray for Amo Racing, Arizona Blaze won the Group 1 Flying Five at the Curragh on his latest start and was among the favourites for Saturday's $1 million event.
