COLMS Dream’s victory in the Grade B TRI Equestrian Handicap Chase, over two miles, five and a half furlongs at Leopardstown on Sunday, provided another reminder of the loss the industry suffered when Knockhouse Stud stallion Beneficial (by Top Ville) died three years ago.

Sire of standouts such as Realt Dubh, Cooldine, Benefficient, Monksland and More Of That, the last named being the Grade 1 star who holds the distinction of being the only horse to have beaten the brilliant mare Annie Power, he went into this week holding fourth place in the season’s stallion table, one of seven who have passed the £1 million mark for the campaign.
