NEWS reaches us of another cycling fundraiser kicking off next week though this one is not for the weak-kneed.

Our very best wishes go to Philip and Jane Myerscough, and Harriet Jellett, who will attempt to pedal the 750km (each) from Paris to Nice in six days. They aim to raise funds for a very important speech therapy programme for Children with Down Syndrome in Kildare.

Philip and Jane’s daughter Tara reports: “Dad completed this cycle back in 2015, raising significant funds for Irish injured jockeys. For Harriet and Mum, it is their first outing. They have all been training incredibly hard since the beginning of the year and we are all very proud of them. It really is a huge undertaking.

“The charity is very close their hearts. Mum and Dad decided to take it on when my nephew Seve, son of Sophie and John Barrett, arrived into our lives last October. “
