DANNY Murphy, who has saddled more than 1,000 winners during a distinguished training career, is the latest name to set up base at Al Ain Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates.
The Irishman will train primarily for Farook Racing, and currently has 13 horses in his care, all thoroughbreds.
“I’m very happy to be here,” said the 55-year-old, who arrives in the UAE after successful stints in Macau, Singapore and Malaysia.
“Everyone has been very welcoming, the facilities are great and I’m looking forward to getting started. I’ve been here since July so my horses will be fit for the start of the season.
“At the moment I have all thoroughbreds, several of whom are unraced.
“I have five two-year-olds, including a very nice two-year-old Scat Daddy filly who I am looking forward to running.
“We also have several older horses, including General Marshall, who we purchased out of Mike de Kock’s yard.”
Murphy has already experienced success in the UAE. During his time in Singapore he owned and trained Terfel, who won the Derrinstown Stud Handicap at Nad Al Sheba in February 2005, ridden by John Egan.
