THE Irish Field Directory 2026 will be free with The Irish Field next Saturday, December 6th. Running to 224 pages, the Directory is your comprehensive guide to all things equine. It includes up-to-date contacts for stud farms, trainers, jockeys, racecourses, equestrian organisations, clubs and much more. The Directory retails at €10 at all other times of the year, so it’s advisable to pick up an extra copy of the paper next weekend.
CHAMPION amateur jockey Patrick Mullins is on the cusp of riding his 900th career winner. The 36-year-old has been champion amateur rider a record 17 times. He has ridden nine winners at the Cheltenham Festival and won the Randox Grand National at Aintree in April of this year aboard Nick Rockett.
RACING officials and jockeys met last Monday to review health and safety issues relating to racecourses. Andrew Coonan of the Irish Jockeys Association reported: “This is an annual meeting and it was very constructive. We had clerks of the course, trainers, racing officials and a good turnout of riders, including Sean Flanagan, Ricky Doyle and Danny Mullins. Barry Geraghty and myself also attended. We go through safety limits at each track and discuss any issues, which have arisen during the year, such as the rollout of the new plastic hurdles.”
