THE catalogue for the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale, which will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 23rd and 24th, is now online. The sale is Ireland’s only breeze up sale and takes place on the eve of the Tattersalls Guineas Festival at the Curragh, with horses breezing at Fairyhouse Racecourse on Thursday, starting at 8.30am, with the sale starting on Friday at 10am.

A total of 252 juveniles are catalogued for the sale which in 2023 produced Group 3 Anglesey Stakes winner Kairyu and listed winners Ballymount Boy and Fun With Flags. The unbeaten filly Purple Lily is also a graduate of the 2023 edition, and she holds classic entries in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Curragh, while also holding an engagement in the Epsom Oaks.

Farriery open day on Wednesday

FARRIERY Ireland is staging an open day next Wednesday, April 10th, at the Irish School of Farriery on the RACE Campus in Kildare town.

Running from 3pm to 5pm, the event is aimed at anyone interested in pursuing a career in farriery. Female students are encouraged to attend and consider this career option.

Tattersalls Online Sale this week

SOME 65 lots have been catalogued for the Tattersalls Online April Sale which takes place next Tuesday and Wednesday. The catalogue includes 48 horses in and out of training, 13 yearlings consigned by Baroda Stud and four stores.

There are consignments from Ben Brookhouse, Karl Burke, Carisbrooke Stud, Dullingham Park, Richard Hannon, Jessica Harrington, Iain Jardine, Jack Jones, Alan King, Emma Lavelle, Ger Lyons, Brian Meehan, Moulton Stud, Olly Murphy, James Owen, Joseph O’Brien, Kevin Philippart de Foy, Tinnakill House, Archie Watson and Ian Williams.

Good turnout for veterinary talk

JUST shy of 70 attendees packed into Osborne Hall at the Irish National Stud on Tuesday for the second in the series of Irish Equine Veterinary Association 2024 CPD events. Entitled ‘Stud Medicines - Back to Basics’ the event covered many aspects of foaling as well as getting mares in foal, be that by natural means or assisted reproduction.

Speakers included Emma Chedgey, Kieran Cunningham, Emma Finnegan, Niamh Lewis and Julie Storm.
