A THRILLING five-days of CSIO5* show jumping came to a close in the Laya Arena at the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show with a victory for Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and Albfuehren's Iashin Sitte in the €1 million Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland.

In a case of precision Swiss timing, Guerdat posted what proved an unbeatable clear in 37.81 seconds in a nine-horse jump-off to take the massive winners’ prize of €300,000.

"This feels very special. Dublin has always meant a lot to me. It's typically one of the shows that makes me love this sport so much. I never want to miss this show," Guerdat said. "I actually had a horrible week except the two main classes where Iashin was unbelievable but I never gave up and it was meant to be today!"

Second into the arena, Jordan Coyle set a time of 39.27 seconds which looked like it would be difficult to beat but eventually the Derry rider, who has a phenomenal six wins, had to settle for second place and €200,000 in this feature class. "This has been the best week of my life," said Jordan afterwards.

Third place on the podium went to Dutch pathfinder Arne Van Heel and Keaton HV. The only other double clear came from Irish Army rider Lt Michaeli Byrne and the Niall and John Mullins-bred MSH Claregalway (ISH) with a brilliant performance to take fourth place in the 100th year of the Army Equitation School, collecting a decent prize fund of €100,000.

Michael Pender and the home-bred nine-year-old Madgeslane Louis (ISH) also made it into the jump-off for Ireland and went on to finish seventh with four faults against the clock.

Speed championship

Irish riders earlier filled the top four places in Sunday morning's Speed Championship, with Tipperary's Tom Wachman scoring his second win of the week. He guided Obora's Laura to the fastest clear in 65.81 seconds to deny Jordan Coyle who had to settle for runner-up spot on this occasion with King Kannan GP. Third place went to Michael Pender and Mercedes Benz HHS Cyprus (ISH), while Cork's Billy Twomey finished fourth with Corrindubh Brother In Arms (ISH).

Tyrone's Niamh McEvoy and the Mairead Lacey-bred Rosconnell Tango (ISH) proved unbeatable in the seven/eight--year-old international final. They finished just under a second ahead of Kian Dore Tyfoon Vd Donkhoeve, while third place went to Francis Derwin with Nolle.

The six-year-old Cruising National Championship for 2026 was won by Kilkenny's Molly Hughes Bravo and the Donal Cadden-bred Kilbrackan Stakatto (ISH), while the five-year-old Flexible National Championship saw Kilkenny's Timmy Brennan take the spoils aboard GCS Ruby (ISH), bred by Olivia Brennan and Miguel Bravo.
