An appeal panel in Paris last Wednesday upheld the 30-day ban imposed on William Buick by the stewards at Chantilly on June 19th.The ban embodies 15 days for causing interference which led to Pierre-Charles Boudot being unseated in the Prix de Diane, and a further 15 days for offensive comments to the panel at Chantilly. This means Buick will miss some of the busiest weeks of the flat racing season.

Today at Sandown’s Eclipse meeting he is due to ride the Royal Ascot winner Hawkbill in the feature race and after that will be sidelined until early August. Buick will sit out the July meeting at Newmarket next week, the Irish Oaks, the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and all five days of Glorious Goodwood.
