WHILE we are used to horses – and riders – graduating from the Irish point-to-point field to winning the Aintree Grand National, this week’s announcement that Randox Health is taking over sponsorship of the world’s best-known race in 2017 sees a remarkable leap from hosting the Killultagh, Old Rock & Chichester two-day fixture at Largy.
It’s probably little wonder to those who know him that company founder and managing director Dr Peter FitzGerald has decided to support the National and the three-day Aintree Festival through his global healthcare provider Randox Health, one of the world’s leaders in its field of healthcare diagnostics. He is a former chairman of the Killultaghs, an accomplished polo player and a very keen horseman.
