STEADY as she goes could be the theme for the Keeneland September Yearling Sale which draws to a close this weekend. With 10 sessions completed as we go to press, and with about 160 less horses offered than last year at the same point, the median is unchanged and the average is showing an increase of about 2.5%.

The top of the market is robust and the number of yearlings sold for $500,000 or more has jumped from 68 last year to 93 this time. However, over 26% of all lots offered were not sold, while a further 13% of the lots catalogued were not eventually presented for sale.
