BROOME was not the only big race winner for his sire Australia last weekend. The dual Derby winner is also the sire of Nachtrose, winner of the Oaks d’Italia on Sunday in San Siro.

Owned and bred by Jurgen and Ursula Imm, who race under the Stall Nizza banner, Nachtrose was foaled and raised at Joe Hernon’s Castletown Stud in Co Cork.

She is out of the Peintre Celebre mare Night Of Magic who also won the Oaks d’Italia for Stall Nizza in 2009. Night Of Magic has already produced dual Group 1 winner Nightflower (by Dylan Thomas).

Easy winner

Trained by Peter Schiergen and ridden by Bauyzhan Murzabayev, Nachtrose ran out an easy three-length winner of the 11-furlong Group 2 event. The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe has been mentioned as a possible target for her.

The winning owner-breeders also bred a Group 3 winner on last Sunday’s card in the shape of Norge, a four-year-old filly by Dylan Thomas. Another raised at Castletown Stud, she won the 10-furlong Premio del Giubilio by almost two lengths.
