THE Irish National Stud has reduced the covering fee of its star stallion Invincible Spirit by 20% to €60,000 for 2022.

Rising 25 years of age, Invincible Spirit has been an outstanding success for the stud, siring 20 Group 1 winners to-date. This year his star performers were the Group 1 placed Pearls Galore and Group 2 Rockfel Stakes winner Hello You.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Nando Parrado will join Lucky Vega as a new recruit for the stud in 2022. A Coventry Stakes winner and twice placed at Group 1 level, Nando Parrado is by Kodiac and his fee will be €6,000.

Lucky Vega was a Group 1 winner at two and twice classic-placed this year. The imposing son of Lope De Vega will start at a fee of €15,000.

Phoenix Of Spain will stand for €12,000 in 2022, just €500 lower than this year. He covered 260 mares in his first two seasons at stud and his first foals are selling in the coming days.

Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Sprint winner Twilight Gleaming gave National Defense an exceptional start. He will stand at a fee of €8,000 in 2022, up from €5,000.

Decorated Knight will continue at €7,500 and Free Eagle’s fee has been lowered from €8,000 to €5,000. Equiano’s fee for 2022 is €2,000 (down 33%), and €2,000 is also the fee for Elusive Pimpernel and Dragon Pulse.
