Spanish win for Clancy

EIGHTEEN-year-old Ella Clancy is enjoying a good run of form in Oliva, Valencia. On her first international tour, she won last Friday’s one-star 1.35m aboard Liam Clancy’s 10-year-old gelding Shooting Star. The combination were the best of 16 clear rounds in the class.

They then finished second in Sunday’s 1.40m with a good double clear in 43.22, just missing out on victory to Britain’s Noora Von Bülow. Jenny Rankin placed third in a three-star 1.45m at the venue.

She guided Vanessa Mannix and Conor Swail’s 17-year-old mare Flower to one of 19 clears in 67.22 seconds. Victory went to Frenchman Julien Epaillard. Rankin was ninth in Saturday’s 1.50m jump-off with Conor Swail’s 10-year-old stallion Lajgaardens Cannavaro.

Kilkenny runner-up

IRELAND’S Jordan Kilkenny grabbed a runner-up finish in Saturday’s two-star Grand Prix at Ocala in Florida, USA. Kilkenny was riding Christine Lovett’s 10-year-old mare Coco Chanel M. Victory went to USA’s Aaron Vale (USA) and Condarco.
