Italian win for Alexander Butler

MEATH’s Alexander Butler won a three-star class in Gorla Minore, Italy, last Friday. Riding the 16-year-old stallion Chilli B, owned by L.C.J. Berben, Butler won the 1.50m Table when best of 12 double clear rounds in 29.34 seconds to earn €6,750. He beat off the challenge of Austria’s Gerfried Puck in second with Sweden’s Douglas Lindelow finished third.

Butler was then runner-up in Sunday’s 1.45m Derby with the Allen Norman-bred 12-year-old ISH Pico (Carrolls Flight), owned by Tirnaskea Stud. From 35 starters, the pair were one of just five clear rounds in 123.64 seconds, behind French winner Paul Delforge with Energika Des Neyes (0/ 120.13).

World champion to be auctioned

THE 2022 six-year-old world champion young horse ABC Saving Grace (ISH) appeared for the first time under new rider Harry Allen in Arezzo, Italy, last weekend where she finished second in the seven-year-old 1.35m class. Bred by Patrick Kehoe, she is by Kannan out of Ardnehue Diamond Cruiser (Cruising) and was ridden to the gold medal at Lanaken last September by Ethen Ahearne. Since sold to the Allens, she will appear in their second Aloga Auction on May 1st at Sentower Park.
