I wondered about the sensitivity of the subject, yet did not wish to do what many might have done and decide to ignore it. I am so pleased I did write it and I was amazed at the universally positive response I have had to it.
Some of these messages came from people close to me and the families most affected, but they also came from readers in Britain, France, America and Canada. To you all I say thank you and simply ask that the message never be forgotten. I would also beg your indulgence and ask that I be allowed to thank everyone through this column for their personal good wishes.
