THE Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association are hosting “A Practical Approach to Foal Sale Preparation” seminar on Thursday, September 14th. The seminar is co-funded by the Department of Agriculture.

The seminar will be split into two sessions. Session one, the morning session, based at ITBA HQ will have a panel to cover the following topics:

  • The importance of a good preparation programme to ensure your stock reaches their full potential in time for the foal sales.
  • The importance of correct farriery in young stock.
  • All aspects of required vaccination and disease outbreak prevention and implementation of a “best practice” approach.
  • The importance of a good feeding programme.
  • Breeding for market demand / what pin hookers look for.
  • The second session takes place at the Irish National Stud (INS), whereby attendees will be shown a number of foals, followed by a talk by a member of the INS team.
