ACHIEVING consistent grass growth begins with healthy soils, and soil pH remains one of the most important factors influencing grassland performance. Across Irish farms, soil analysis continues to show that a significant proportion of grassland soils remain below optimum pH, restricting nutrient availability and limiting the efficiency of fertiliser and slurry applications.

Liming is the foundation of soil fertility management. When soil acidity is corrected, nutrients already present in the soil become more available, leading to improved grass growth and better utilisation of applied nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
