Wednesday. Time: 11am. Wednesday. Ponies (42 including supplementary sheet) and older horses.

Thursday 11am. Four-year-olds and three-year-olds.

Last year’s top lot: Keith Wilson’s Coille Mor Buachaill, 5 year-old gelding by Tolan R (dam by Coille Mor Hill) €23,000.

TWELVE months ago, and with many pandemic restrictions still in force, the spring fixture at Goresbridge broke all previous records. This year, and due to an increase in entries the renewal runs over two days, and connections will be hoping that trade will be a lively as it was then.

Certainly, the indications are good, and the catalogue of 323 lots (including supplementary catalogue) looks enticing. The opening day of older stock offers both jumpers and event horses with form, as well as a large quantity of proven hunters and experienced all-rounders. Thursday appears equally strong, especially in the four-year-old sector.

Once again, and with 12 progeny forward, OBOS Quality leads the stallion lists while the thoroughbred Pointilliste is well represented with six. Others to feature in number include Cobra 18, Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet, Tullabeg Fusion and Rebel Mountain – all with four apiece.

She is consigned by a regular sale-topping vendor and, having competed in training shows, looks a smart prospect for the future.

Lot 7 Bugsy, reg 4yo b g 14.2hh by Uskerty Sweet Lad out of Slaney Kings Cruise (Kings Master). Another with sport horse bloodlines and with a pedigree going back to Clover Hill, this traditionally bred pony is thought to have a great future either show jumping or eventing. Described as having a very trainable brain, he is ready to be produced to the highest level.

Lot 18 Drumcollogher Grey Knight, reg 6yo gr g 14.2hh by Glencarrig Knight out of Drumcollogher Lady Nel (Clonberne Boy). This versatile Connemara is fully warranted in all respects, and is well hunted with the Wicklow hounds.
