on 08 February 2019
Diazorb helps treat diarrhoea which can pose series risk to foals

TRM’s newest product launch DIAZORB is a powerful supplement, presented in an easy to use paste, for use in digestive upsets in foals and horses. It contains Probiotic, Prebiotics, Bentonite, Pectin, Sodium Chloride and Dextrose.

Anyone who breeds foals will be well aware of the setbacks and potential loss of life that can be triggered by any digestive upsets that may trigger diarrhoea. They are generally aware that prompt treatment is a must.

Treating digestive upsets in foals is based around the following principles:

    • Protect the gut lining
    • Remove or neutralise toxins
    • Restore the balance of gut microorganisms
    • Reduce fluid loss
    • Help replace electrolytes
    • Provide an easily digested energy source
    • Be easy to administer
  • The key constituents of Diazorb and why they are important in treating gastric upsets in foals are:

    Bentonite:

  • A gastrointestinal absorbent recommended to absorb and neutralise toxins
  • .

  • Binds with water
  • Saccharomyces Cerevisiae:

  • Live yeast probiotic which helps re-establish good bacterial populations
  • EU authorised digestibility enhancer – optimises utilization of the diet
  • Dextrose:

  • Energy source during times of gut upsets
  • Pectin:

  • A dietary fibre and energy source for cells in gastrointestinal wall
  • Pectin stimulates water and colonic sodium retention which is important in helping to produce normal stools and counteract dehydration and loss of electrolytes
  • Fructo-oligosaccharides and Mannanoligosaccharides (FOS and MOS)
  • Can increase the number of friendly bacteria in the colon while reducing the population of harmful bacteria
  • Sodium Chloride:

  • Replaces electrolytes lost
  • Diazorb should be added to the normal feed ration or fed direct.

  • Feed for three-five days until normal gut motility resumes.
  • Foals 60-120kgs:
    • Feed 20ml as required
    • Can repeat at four-eight hour intervals
    • As directed by your veterinary surgeon
  • Foals and horses >120kgs:
    • Feed 30ml as required
    • Can repeat at four-eight hour intervals
  • As directed by your veterinary surgeon
