THE Lloyd Williams-owned Fawkner, highlighted what a threat he could be in the Emirates Melbourne Cup with a well taken win the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes last Saturday over 2,000 metres.

Appreciating the true tempo put on by Jamie Spencer on Side Glance, Fawkner was always travelling well three back on the rail with jockey Nick Hall able to ease into the race on the bend before overtaking Dissident (was found to have bled after the race) and Side Glance with only the Sebring entire Criterion threatening.
