IF it were not such a serious matter, it would be more appropriate to call some of the contributions at this week’s Oireachtas Joint Committee as bordering on the absurd.

I am not for a minute referring to those tasked with defending allegations of drug cheating, but rather some members of the committee who, quite frankly, let themselves down. Aside from schoolboy-like squabbling, posing questions which displayed a basic lack of knowledge, and asking for opinions about an upcoming television programme, yet to be seen, there was the continuation of posing unfounded allegations, none based on hard evidence.
