THERE were three notable doubles at last Sunday’s Northern Region show in Laurel View where BHS performance coach, Mark Robinson, was successful at both Preliminary and Novice level with Debbie Burns’s Hanoverian gelding Master Caledonia.

In the Orlaith O’Hagan-judged Preliminary BD15, the combination won on a score of 71.60% while in the Novice 37A, where the performances were judged by Michael Moore, Robinson and his eight-year-old son of Metall were awarded a score of 73.15.

Among the registered competitors, Lisa Dundee topped the scoring in the Vanda Stewart-assessed Preliminary DI4 with her own Bridge House Dragonfly (65.60), a four-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Caricello, while, in the Stewart-judged Novice DI23, Sharon Getty took the honours on Taptoo (67.42), her seven-year-old ISH mare by Shannondale Sarco St Ghyvan who was bred in Co Clare by Pat Madigan out of the Ricardo Z mare Pat Clover.

Taptoo was campaigned under Eventing Ireland rules in 2019 and 2020 by Adam Haugh, winning twice at EI100 level and once in an EI110.

Joanne Jarden’s wins on Debby Ewing’s Anglo European Studbook-registered Stormhill Raindance, a 13-year-old daughter of Kremlin, came in the Moore-judged BD Elementary 43 (73.28) and in the Stewart-judged Medium BD63 (67.41).

The other winners at these levels were, respectively, Kerry Magill with Bonmahon Quick Step (70.77) in the Elementary DI46 and Rebecca McCauley in the Medium BD73 with her own Hanoverian mare Fabiana (65.44). Magill and her mother Kay’s eight-year-old Bonmahon Master Blue gelding went on to record an uncontested victory in the Junior Novice DI23 (71.13).
