THE Goffs Million is back. Saturday sees the first running of the €1 million race since 2009. It is restricted to graduates of the previous year’s Goffs Orby Sale and takes place just three days ahead of the 2022 Orby Sale.

There is prize money on offer for the first 10 finishers and a €100,000 bonus on offer if the winner goes on to win a Group 1/Grade 1 race as a three-year-old.

The sales company plans to make it an extra special occasion for all connections of the Million runners and there is good news too for all registered racehorse owners. A spokesperson for Goffs said: “We’ve worked with the Curragh and HRI Owners to offer registered owners in Ireland two free tickets for the Goffs Million raceday if they present their AIR card at the turnstiles.”

Members of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association will be also be offered complimentary tickets for Saturday.

With the racing taking place alongside the two-day Taste of Kildare food festival at the track, a vibrant atmosphere is promised. Before racing next Saturday racegoers will be treated to an in-depth racing preview in the parade ring at noon.

Those present will also be given an insight from prominent bloodstock agents as to how the Million horses were selected as yearlings.

Anyone inspecting yearlings at Goffs next weekend can avail of a complimentary shuttle bus to take them to the races from 11.30am onwards.

During the race itself four jockeys will wear helmet cameras, bringing the public right to the centre of the action.

Between now and then you can find our more about the raceday and some of the main contenders for the race by following Goffs on social media or visiting the dedicated website.
