Any disappointment felt when Kilcarn Stud sold a daughter of Canford Cliffs out of Queen Of Carthage for just €13,000 at last year’s Orby Sale will hopefully now be a distant memory as the two-year-old clocked up her second win from two starts at Thirsk recently. She holds an entry next for the Lowther Stakes.

Resold as a breeze up lot at Arqana for €55,000 in May, Lady Clair is the first foal of her unraced dam who is by Cape Cross, sire of Golden Horn. Queen Of Carthage was sold in foal to Canford Cliffs for 160,000gns at Tattersalls in 2012 and she is a daughter of the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera winner Satwa Queen who was also placed second in the same race. She sold as a mare out of training in 2007 for 3,400,000gns. Queen Of Carthage has a yearling filly by Acclamation.
