CLASSIC-WINNING miler Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) is one of the all-time great stallions, and he will feature for a long time to come in the pedigrees of world-class performers thanks to a large number of sons who are excelling at stud.

Al Kazeem, Makfi, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, Poet’s Voice, Too Darn Hot and Zarak are among his sons who have sired at least one top-level winner at stud. All of these were Group 1 winners, and it is understandable that the National Stud would wish to have one of his sons too, albeit one who did not win at the highest level.

Time Test won a Sandown maiden from three juvenile starts and did not make his blacktype debut until easily winning the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes over 10 furlongs at Royal Ascot the following summer, so one might have expected he would enjoy an encouraging freshman campaign rather than an exciting one, perhaps getting a blacktype earner or two among a string of maiden and conditions winners.

Instead, Time Test produced five blacktype two-year-olds in his first crop, two of them Group 3 scorers, two listed winners, and the other a leading Irish juvenile whose array of form featured a Group 1 placing.

Time Test went on to win the Group 2 Joel Stakes, Group 2 York Stakes and Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes, he was placed in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes, Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes and Grade 1 Fourstardave Handicap, and his fourth to Arabian Queen and Golden Horn in the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes was once of only twice he finished out of the first three.

His notable first-crop daughters were Romantic Time (dam by Sir Percy; Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes), Tardis (dam by Equiano; St Hugh’s Stakes), and Sunset Shiraz (dam by Shirocco), the latter being placed in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, Group 2 Debutante Stakes, Group 2 Park Stakes, and Listed Silken Glider Stakes. Time Test’s first crop sons featured German Group 3 scorer Rocchigiani (dam by El Corredor) and Italian pattern-placed stakes winner The King’s Horses (dam by Kheleyf).

While he has failed to keep that momentum, Time Test has added the Group 2 Beresford Stakes winner Cryto Force (dam by Galileo) to his tally of stakes winners, and a number of stakes-placed horses. His yearlings have sold for up to 400,000gns, and he will have some very interesting runners this season and next with his juveniles.
