THE annual Arqana Lumet Show and Sale of young National Hunt stock will take place next Saturday, August 26th, at Bécon-Les-Granits in north-west France.
The venue is close to Angers, an hour’s drive from Nantes or a four-hour drive from Paris.
Organised jointly by David Lumet and Arqana, the sale claims to be unique in Europe by bringing together a selection of pre-trained two and three-year-old jumpers who will be shown in all their paces, as well as cantering, before going through the ring in the afternoon. The lots will also be filmed over jumps before the sale with the videos shown on the screen.
David Lumet commented: “Since its creation in 2013, some 382 horses have gone under the hammer during the Lumet Show, with 108 of them going on to win on the racecourse. These results reflect the work of our teams with the colts, geldings and fillies entrusted to us by breeders every year. The way the day was run last year was ideal for the horses, so we decided to keep it that way.”
The 2022 sale has notably produced exciting young prospects Golden Joy, Karaktere D’enfer, Lud’or and Sysko, all of which were winners on their debuts and are now running in their new colours across the channel.
This year’s catalogue lists 64 colts, geldings and fillies from a range of breeding establishments in the west, as well as from the best French National Hunt breeders across France.
The best National Hunt stallions are also represented, including Balko, Bathyrhon, Castle Du Berlais, Choeur Du Nord, Cokoriko, Great Pretender, It’s Gino, Kapgarde, Masked Marvel, No Risk At All, Pastorius, Spanish Moon and Voiladenuo, as well as young sires Estejo, Fly With Me, Goliath Du Berlais, Ivanhowe, Nirvana Du Berlais, Non Rien De Rien, Roman Candle, Silverwave, The Anvil, Ultra and Victory Song.
